Seattle Writers Conference July 29

Come hear my keynote Sunday morning at 11:30 at the Seatac Hilton, about the narrow platform we live on as writers—the platform, called “vision,” that connects dream with reality. At first it feels like there’s barely enough room to stand on. But the longer we occupy the platform, pursuing our vision with complete focus and determination, the more room there seems to be to maneuver. All the room we need.

Writing is a vocation, one that requires determination, patience, dedication, and, yes, great courage. But “the only one holding a gun to your head is yourself,” as someone once told me: we do this because we’ve decided to do it, so there’s not an inch of space that can be wasted on depression, doubt, or lack of self-confidence.

If you’re in Seattle on the 28th too, come to the workshop I’m doing with AEI client Royce Buckingham, whose DEMONKEEPER just appeared from Putnam and is in development as a major motion picture at Fox 2000. Go for it!
